We’re looking for your support

As Ferryside Lifeboat enters a new chapter as an independent charity, we need the community’s help more than ever to keep a lifeboat operating in Ferryside.

If you’d like to get involved, there are a plenty of ways that you can help:

Lifeboat Crew

Join our operational team manning one of our two lifeboats. Whilst useful, there’s no experience necessary – we’ve put in place a detailed training plan including comprehensive training courses on Personal Protective Equipment, Sea Survival, First Aid, Marine VHF, Powerboat Handling and Navigation and more – to ensure you have all you need to be able to operate effectively and safely.

Shore Crew

If you don’t like the idea of getting your feet wet, but still want to get hands on, we’re aways looking for shore crew. Our invaluable shore crew help maintain our equipment in prime condition, assist in launching and recovering the boat, can help co-ordinate rescues from our base and more. They’re essential to making sure our boats can always launch quickly when needed.

Fundraisers

We’re also looking for help raising money to fund the lifeboat. It costs around £22,000 each year to keep our boats, lifeboat station, and PPE running and properly maintained and, as a newly independent organisation, that’s a real challenge. From writing grant applications, to organising fundraising events, to just helping us rattle a tin occasionally on a Saturday morning, we’d love your help.

However you choose to get involved, you’ll be working with a passionate team who are there to support each other in our mission. To find out more, please get in touch.
